Defence secretary Wes Streeting says the country will see a prime minister that ‘runs towards big and difficult issues’ Ed Davey , the Liberal Democrat leader, has said that he hopes MPs can find “a real and lasting consensus” on social care. In a statement issued in response to Andy Burnham’s comments on the topic (see 9.03am ), Davey said: I know for a fact this morning that carers I know will feel a sense of hope that politicians may finally do something serious to fix care in our country.
